Mr. Shields has over 25 years of experience in financial management, corporate M&A and capital management. Mr. Shields has been exposed to all aspects of real estate ownership and development throughout his professional and personal life.
Mr. Shields has held senior financial and investor relations roles in private and public companies ranging from early stage start-ups to some of Canada's largest corporations (including Bell Canada Enterprises, Suncor and Weston Foods). Industry sectors that include; telecommunications, wireless technology, media, publishing, food manufacturing and oil & gas.
Mr. Shields M&A experience provides the necessary due diligence experience and strategic vision in evaluating investment opportunities.
Mr. Shields is a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and is also a MBA graduate of the Richard Ivey School of business. Mr. Shields has served on several boards of directors and devotes time to various non-profit organizations. Mr. Shields cherishes his time with his wife and two young children.
Mr. Shields brings over 50 years of real estate experience primarily in Canada as well as the U.S. This includes residential subdivision development and sales, owning and managing apartment buildings, industrial complexes and construction of apartment buildings, housing, condominiums and office towers. In addition, David has been for the last two decades buying commercial properties with a focus on U.S. locations.
Mr. Shields extensive breadth of experience incorporates a distinguished track record. Mr. Shields along with his brothers purchased farm lands in and around the city of Toronto. These lands were developed into residential subdivisions. In parallel, the brothers built and/or acquired over 4,000 rental apartment suites in the city. In the 80's and 90's the business grew to include acquisition and management of industrial and commercial properties in Canada.
In the early 90's, the brothers recognized the opportunity to invest in the U.S., they then turned their focus south of the border to acquire NNN leased properties.
Mr. Shields is philanthropic and supports numerous charities. Mr. Shields is devoted to his wife of over 50 years and his 12 grandchildren.
